The 55th edition of the world-renowned Dinagyang Festival is expected to be “bigger, bolder, and brighter” as major activities will be staged face-to-face in January next year.

The city started last Friday, Oct. 14, the 100-day countdown to the much-anticipated celebration with the theme “Iloilo Dinagyang 2023: Pasalamat kay Señor Sto. Niño.”

The ceremonial countdown was led by Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, Congresswoman Jamjam Baronda, Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) president Jose Layson, Jr., and San Jose de Placer parish priest Reverend Father Renchie Vicente Senoro.

IFFI, the festival’s organizer, also presented the line-up of exciting activities.

To signal the start of the Dinagyang season, Pamukaw will take place on Dec. 16. Barangay-based tribes will participate in the activity.

The Opening Salvo will be held on January 13. It will be followed by the Miss Iloilo 2023 Coronation Night on January 18.

The Iloilo Dinagyang Food Festival is set on Jan.19-22.

The Grand Religious Sadsad and the Sto.Nino Fluvial Procession and Solemn Foot Procession will be on Jan. 13 and Jan. 20, respectively.

The Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan, Sponsors Mardi Gras, Dinagyang Ilomination, and the Dinagyang Floats Parade of Lights are scheduled on January 21.

The following day is the Dinagyang Tribes Competition and the Dinagyag Awarding Ceremony.

The Dinagyang Festival was awarded as the Best Tourism Event in the Philippines.IMT
