Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla believes that former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has plans of “rejoining the political landscape.”

Mabilog, who left the Philippines in 2017 after he was repeatedly tagged by then-President Duterte as a narco-politician, returned to the country on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

“It’s his decision to make, and he went home to, I think, rejoin the political landscape. Babalik siya,” Remulla said in a press conference.

“Well, elections are coming in May; filing of certificates of candidacy is in October. It’s very timely for him to come back and relaunch his political career. Practically, that’s how I look at it,” he added.

In a radio interview, lawyer Jericho Jucaban, the  legal counsel of Mabilog, said the former mayor is now in the process of reactivating his voter registration.

Mabilog’s voter registration was deactivated by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) after he failed vote in two consecutive elections.IMT
