Print media will remain relevant in the years and decades ahead,  Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez said.

“I am honored to join you today as we discuss the value of print media in the age of mass digitalization. I have just one point to make: print media will remain relevant for years to come,” Chavez said in a speech at the recent UPMGPhils Tinta Print Media Conference 2024.

While the digital revolution has made accessing information easier, the PCO chief said it does not render print media obsolete.

“It’s true that digital platforms have made information more accessible and convenient than ever before. It’s easier than ever to like, share, and follow news outlets that align with our views. But this convenience is not enough to push print media into obsolescence,” according to him.

Chavez highlighted the unique qualities of print media—tangibility, intentionality, authenticity, and capacity for deeper engagements—as key to its enduring relevance.

“Print offers something digital cannot: a tangible connection to the content, intentionality, authenticity, and a deeper engagement with both the material and its creators,” he said.IMT
