WV among top coffee producers in PH

Western Visayas (WV) is among the top producers of coffee in the Philippines, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Jairus Sirue, DA-6 coffee coordinator, said WV made it to the list of the country’s Top 5 Major Coffee Producing Regions.

He noted that WV is capable of producing about 450 metric tons (MT) of coffee a year.

Of the provinces in the region, Iloilo and Negros Occidental accounted for the bulk of the total coffee production.

Sirue said DA-6 continues to look for ways to further improve the quality of coffee beans produced by farmers in the region.IMT
