Hotshots from Western Visayas steered San Miguel Beermen to clinch the leg 5 finals of the PBA 3×3 Third Conference at the Robinsons Place Antipolo.
Negrense Jeffrey Manday and Ilonggo Ken Bono combined impressive performance to defeat TNT Tropang Giga, 21-12.
The Negrense led the offense for the Beermen after tallying seven points with nine rebounds. Bono chipped in six markers while Wendell Comboy and Riego Gamalinda contributed five and three markers, respectively.
In the opener, Manday and Bono have hot hands following a 14-5 start before holding off the Tropang Giga’s attempt to fight back and clinch its third straight leg title.
Coached by Boycie Zamar, the Beermen completed a sweep of its six assignments in the two-day competition en route to the leg championship to pocket the P100,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, it was a heartbreaking loss for the Tropang Giga as they attempt to set history of becoming the first team to win three straight leg championships. After bowing to the Beermen, TNT settled for runner up and snatched P50,000 cash prize.
It was only Almond Vosotros who singlehandedly carried the fight for the team. He scored nine points and five rebounds, while Samboy De Leon was the only other Tropang Giga who scored with three points.IMT Sports
