The number of dengue cases in Western Visayas already reached more than two thousand.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) recorded 2,608 cases of dengue from January 1 to August 1 this year.

Negros Occidental accounted for the most number of these cases at 770, followed by Iloilo province, 499; Aklan, 366; Capiz, 277; Antique, 225; Iloilo City, 191; Bacolod City, 154; and Guimaras, 65.

The total cases include six deaths from Negros Occidental (1), Iloilo province (1), Aklan, (1), Capiz (1), Antique (1), and Iloilo City (1).

The region’s health department reminded the public to practice daily the 4S strategy: Search and destroy, Self-protection measure, Seek early consultation when symptomatic, and Support space spraying in identified areas with clustering of cases.IMT
