There are now more patients who have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) than deaths in Western Visayas.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported on Wednesday, April 22, three new COVID-19 survivors in the region, bringing the total number of recoveries to 11.

The latest survivors are a 37-year-old male from Malay in Aklan, an 81-year-old male from Libacao in Aklan; and a 53-year-old male from Mambusao in Capiz.

Repeat tests conducted on the three patients, who were already discharged from hospitals, yielded negative results, according to the DOH-6.

In the whole region, the province of Iloilo has the most number of recoveries with three, followed by Aklan, Bacolod City, and Capiz, two each; and Negros Occidental and Iloilo City, one each.

Meanwhile, one new death was recorded in the region, raising the total number of patients who died of COVID-19 to eight.

The latest fatality is a 69-year-old male from Bacolod City. The death toll in the city due to COVID-19 is now at two.

The other fatalities in the region are from Iloilo province (4), Iloilo City (1), and Capiz (1).

There are currently 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region.IMT
