Nearly one million pesos worth of illegal drugs were confiscated during various police operations conducted in a span of 24 hours in Western Visayas.

According to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), 10 drug personalities were arrested in eight anti-narcotics operations from 6 a.m of Nov. 17 to 5:59 a.m. of Nov. 18.

The suspects yielded a total of 117.6 grams of “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride with a street value of P799,680.

Of the recovered illegal drugs, 75.2 grams were from Bacolod City, 30 grams from Iloilo province, 7.4 grams from Negros Occidental and 5 grams from Guimaras.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) recorded the highest number of arrests at 4, followed by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) with 3, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) with 2, and the Guimaras  Police Provincial Office (GPPO) with 1.

PRO-6 said the arrest of alias “Mon” and alias “Paolo” in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City was the “most significant accomplisihment” during the 24-hour anti-drug operations. The two are considered high-value individuals (HVIs).

It also commended IPPO for the arrest of alias “Igor”, a reelected barangay kagawad of Anong in Cabatuan, and alias “Kalbo” in Tigbauan.

PRO-6 regional director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor congratulated all police units and offices in the region for their “continuous and strict implementation of the organization’s campaign against illegal drugs.”

“Sa pagtutulungan po ng lahat ay maaabot po natin ang ating hangarin na magkaroon ng mapayapa, ligtas, at drug-free na Western Visayas,” he said.IMT
