The tourism industry of Western Visayas is not affected by the oil spill in Caluya, Antique, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT-6).
In a press conference on Tuesday, March 28, DOT-6 regional director Crisanta Marlene Rodriquez said the oil spill did not deter tourists from traveling to the province and other parts of the region.
She thanked the public and private sector for their efforts to speed up the oil spill clean-up in Caluya.
The oil spill from the sunken tanker MT Princess Empress along in Oriental Mindoro spread to the villages of Sibolo, Tinogboc, and Semirara.
In a radio interview, Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao said the oil spill in Caluya was already contained.IMT
